By Sharon Chapman
The free South by Southwest Auditorium Shores shows start Thursday, with the Shins as headliners. Little Hurricane plays at 5:45 p.m. followed by M. Ward at 6:45 p.m. and the Shins at 8 p.m.
Ward, whose excellent new record “A Wasteland Companion” is out April 10, has a busy night Thursday. After his Auditorium Shores set, he’s scheduled to be a special guest in the concert (open to badge holders) led by surviving Big Star member Jody Stephens after the premiere of the new Big Star documentary, “Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me,” at the Paramount Theatre.
The Shins, whose excellent new “Port of Morrow” is out Tuesday, aren’t done after Thursday either. They’re taping “Austin City Limits” on Sunday. Tickets have already been distributed.
